Barbera d'Alba Superiore DOC
The gentle strength of Piedmont, a Piedmontese red of depth and harmony

Wine Identity
Origin and production philosophy
Podere Gagliassi's Barbera d'Alba Superiore DOC is grown on the historic Pian Romualdo hill in Monforte d'Alba, in an ideal soil and climate for expressing the intense and enveloping character of this historic Piedmontese grape variety.
Grown according to certified organic farming methods, this Barbera is designed to enhance the evolutionary potential of the grape variety, with aging in wood that adds structure and complexity without distorting its freshness.
Superior: what does it mean?
The term "Superiore" indicates a longer aging period: at least 14 months, including at least 4 months in wood. It also signifies greater concentration, body, and longevity.
The Podere Gagliassi approach
Working with environmentally friendly agronomic practices and low yields, Podere Gagliassi produces a modern yet authentic Barbera, capable of combining varietal freshness with the depth afforded by wood aging.
Technical data sheet
Grapes and harvest
Grape variety: 100% Barbera
Harvest: manual, end of September/October
The harvest is carried out by selecting the best bunches, paying attention to their health and sugar and acid ripeness.
Vinification and refinement
Destemming and maceration on the skins in stainless steel
Aging: French oak tonneaux
This passage in wood gives the Barbera roundness and complexity, without covering the varietal identity.
Tasting notes
Color and scent
Intense ruby red with purple highlights. The nose opens with notes of ripe plum, dark cherry, licorice, and sweet spices, followed by a balsamic touch and a subtle hint of vanilla from the wood.
Taste and structure
On the palate, it's full-bodied, smooth, and harmonious, with delicate tannins and a refreshing acidity. The finish is long and persistent, with fruity and spicy aftertastes that confirm its elegance.
